Recently, I saw a one star review for Towne Cafe. It was over a sign put on a table to gently remind people that this is a business that serves food, and they can serve more people if you don’t take up tables for more than your fair share of time. This isn’t an internet cafe, and it’s sad to me that people need to be reminded to have manners in the first place. If you bring a lot of people, and take up a lot of space for hours, you should purchase food. The post was very “mean girls”, and I hope that you won’t listen to someone who clearly doesn’t have manners, and would try to ruin a local family owned business. Trolls have no business posting reviews. I love Betsy and the atmosphere she’s created at Towne Cafe, and the food is delightful to boot!

I think many people see a professionally run restaurant in a former fast-food building and assume we're part of a large corporation. In reality, we're a locally owned and operated family business. Every table matters because turning those tables is what allows us to stay in business, pay our wonderful staff, and support our families. Unfortunately, some guests have treated our dining room as an office, occupying large tables for hours during our busiest times. In one instance, a guest worked for nearly four hours at one of our largest tables and only purchased a pickle spear on the way out. Experiences like that prompted us to add signs to our two largest tables. We rewrote them several times, genuinely trying to explain our situation as politely and respectfully as possible. While our intention was never to make anyone feel unwelcome, one person was clearly offended, and it resulted in a one-star review. That's disappointing because reviews have a very real impact on small, local businesses like ours. The good news is that we've recently expanded our seating with additional tables and booths. We've also found what we believe is a fair compromise: the signs remain on our largest tables to help ensure families and larger groups have a place to sit, but we've limited the computer-use request to our busiest hours (10 a.m.–2 p.m.), when seating is at its highest demand. We truly appreciate guests like you who understand the challenges of running a small business and continue to support local. Thank you for being one of them.
